OUR HISTORY

2006

The company was established under the name of GY Enerji Danışmanlık Proje Mühendislik Üretim, Ticaret ve Sanayi Limited Şirketi (GY Energy Consultancy Project Engineering Production, Trade and Industry Limited Company).

2007

The name of the company was changed to Galata Wind Enerji Limited Şirketi (Galata Wind Energy Limited Company)

2012

The company was acquired by the Doğan Group and its name was changed to Galata Wind Enerji Anonim Şirketi (Galata Wind Energy Inc.).

Akdeniz Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.(Akdeniz Electricity Generation Inc.) which owned the generation license of Mersin WPP was also acquired by the Doğan Group

With Şah WPP and Mersin WPP, renewable energy generation under the Doğan Group has begun.

2014

Galata Wind and Akdeniz Elektrik have been merged under the entity of Galata Wind; therefore, Galata Wind has acquired the license for Mersin WPP as well.

2017

21 MW of extension capacity was added to the Mersin WPP on December 20, 2017.

2018

Çorum SPP was acquired on March 15, 2018 and the SPV was merged with Galata Wind on June 7, 2018.

2019

Erzurum SPP was acquired on March 3, 2019 and the SPV was merged with Galata Wind on December 31, 2019.

2020

The construction of the Taşpınar WPP began.

The Taşpınar WPP began generation after the partial takeover on October 28, 2020 (provisional acceptance date).

Galata Wind acquired 100% shares of Sunflower Solar Güneş Enerjisi Sistemleri Ticaret Anonim Şirketi (Sunflower Solar Energy Systems Trading Inc.)

2021

The Taşpınar WPP began production generation at full capacity in March.

Galata Wind applied for IPO permission on 04.03.2021 to Capital Markets Board of Turkey (SPK).The company had its initial public offer on April 2021

Prospectus approval has been taken from Capital Markets Board of Turkey (SPK) by 09.04.2021

On 15-16.04.2021, demand collection process was executed.

The shares of Galata Wind have started being publicly traded on Borsa İstanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange) on 22.04.2021 with the ticker GWIND.

 
2022

On September 23, 2022, shares of Gökova Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş acquired.

On October 26, 2022, a loan agreement of $45 million was signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with a tenor until 2029.

On December 20, 2022, the Corporate Governance Compliance Rating was determined to be 9.4 out of 10. The company began trading on the Corporate Governance Index.

 
2023

As of July 11, 2023, Galata Wind obtained a pre-license for 7 different power plants with storage capacity resulting in a total of 350 MW.

On July 20, 2023, project development contracts consisting of 300 MW of PV projects in Europe were signed.

On July 27, 2023, Galata Wind Energy Global BV, 100% subsidiary of Galata Wind, was established in the Netherlands with a capital of 1 million EUR.

On December 7, 2023, initial 9.4 MW of Taşpınar Hybrid SPP was commissioned.

On December 29, 2023, the installed capacity of Taşpınar WPP was increased to 73 MW with additional 2 turbines.
