S&P (Standard & Poor's) Global Ratings announced the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation of Galata Wind Enerji A.Ş. as 67 (on a scale of 1 to 100).
In a summary of Galata Wind’s ESG evaluation of 67, S&P Global Ratings expressed the following opinions: “Higher numbers indicate stronger sustainability.. This result reflects our opinion that the company is adequately prepared to take advantage of the short- and medium-term trends in the power generation sector and adapt to disruptions. In our evaluation, we considered Galata Wind's position as a company that generates only renewable energy and its ambitious yet achievable target of increasing its installed capacity to 550 megawatts (MW) by 2025. And we believe that it has a role in replacing fossil fuels in Turkey’s current energy mix.”
According to the ESG evaluation summary: “Galata Wind has very low direct emissions and intends to reduce scope 1 emissions to zero by 2025. We believe that Galata Wind is less exposed to direct social risks compared to its industry peers, particularly because construction and maintenance work for wind and solar power plants is outsourced. We have also found the company’s direct employees strong occupational health and safety performance noteworthy. The board demonstrates governance practices that align with the Turkish standards for listed companies. We also understand that Galata Wind has published its first sustainability report in July 2023 and plans to source non-financial information from external sources starting in 2024 for more detailed and comprehensive sustainability and financial reporting.”
Galata Wind invests in sustainable energy resources for a clean future and generates 100% renewable energy with Gold Standard and VCS-certified wind and solar power plants in various locations across Turkey, reducing nearly 400,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.
