Biodiversity Policy

INTRODUCTION

Galata Wind Enerji A.Ş. is aware of the critical importance of biodiversity, the fundamental component of ecosystems necessary for the continuation of life on our planet, for all humanity.  For this reason, our Company takes utmost care to organize all its operations in a way that minimizes the impact of its activities on biodiversity and encourages the protection of natural habitats. While integrating the requirements of global standards and regulations on biodiversity into our business strategy, we believe that we can contribute to the sustainability of the ecological environment not only by producing renewable energy, but also by supporting ecosystems in all aspects.

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

Galata Wind Biodiversity Policy, we act with the same commitment as all our industry peers to protect biodiversity and even contribute to the development of biodiversity within the life cycle of all our operations. This commitment applies to all our activities, from the development and operation of wind and solar projects to the management of our supply chain. Our biodiversity policy is based on the requirements of international best practices and standards, including the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the 2030 European Biodiversity Strategy.

Fundamental PrIncIples

• We carefully select the regions to be invested in and do not operate in protected areas or habitats with high ecological value. In 2021, we took a very important step in this regard by establishing the Investment Committee, which reports to the Board of Directors, and linked it to the Sustainability Committee.

• In addition, we use the best available technologies to reduce habitat degradation, species mortality and changes in the balance of ecosystems near our operation sites, and we take measures to minimize our impacts..

• We are committed to mitigation measures that restore or enhance ecosystems while managing our impact area. We collaborate to support biodiversity-offset programs that aim to achieve no net loss of biodiversity and positive impacts where possible.

• We work on Biodiversity Action Plans at the start of all our new projects and during the ongoing operations of our existing facilities, and we set targets for their implementation. These plans include actions to protect and enhance biodiversity, including habitat restoration, species conservation and ecosystem management in the regions where we operate.

• Biodiversity considerations are managed in an integrated manner across all stages of our production lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, operation and the end of the service cycle. We incorporate climate risk assessments, including biodiversity, into our environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and decision-making processes, ensuring that potential impacts are identified and managed early.

• We are committed to continuously monitoring the effectiveness of our actions to understand and mitigate our biodiversity-related impacts. As part of this commitment, we support collaborations that include biodiversity research, species monitoring and habitat assessments.

• We actively engage with local authorities, civil society organizations, government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that biodiversity-related initiatives comply with regulations in the regions where we operate and contribute to broader environmental goals. We seek to contribute our expertise and resources to collective efforts to conserve biodiversity by participating in national and international biodiversity initiatives.

• We conduct awareness-raising activities to ensure that our employees and suppliers of products and services understand the importance of biodiversity and their role in its conservation. We will continue to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity among our stakeholders, including our suppliers and investors.

MANAGEMENT APPROACH

The implementation of the Biodiversity Policy is the responsibility of the Galata Wind Board of Directors and monitored by the Sustainability Committee. The committee is responsible for strategic planning and the integration of all biodiversity-related issues into operational decisions. Developments in the area of biodiversity are regularly presented to the Board of Directors and disclosed to our stakeholders as part of the sustainability report. The biodiversity policy, like our other policies, is regularly reviewed and
