Waste Management Policy
Galata Wind applies a waste management policy in line with the circular economy management approach. This policy includes the company's basic principles and commitments regarding the reduction of waste generated by Galata Wind's activities in all areas of operation, the evaluation of all waste that can be recycled and reused in this direction, and the minimization of waste that has the potential to harm the ecological system and, in cases where this is not possible, its disposal in accordance with laws and regulations.
Galata Wind aims to become a major global player in the renewable energy sector. The company is strategically positioning itself to create a more prosperous and climate resilient society in Turkey and around the world. This means that every activity is managed taking into account its impact on the environment, society and corporate governance.
Galata Wind's waste management policy is an integral part of the overall environmental policy and clearly demonstrates Galata Wind's commitment to waste management. The policy is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Articles 12 (Sustainable Production and Consumption), 14 (Life in Water) and 15 (Life on Land).
This policy is in line with Doğan Holding's waste management policy and makes our stakeholders aware of Galata Wind's fundamental approach to the management of all our waste throughout our value chain. Products used within the scope of production and maintenance activities in accordance with national and international regulations on hazardous and non-hazardous waste management are excluded from the scope of this policy.
Galata Wind strives to continuously improve its environmental performance in order to be a sustainability role model in the industry in which it operates. The waste management processes undertaken to meet the expectations of global standards require a continuous measurement and assessment infrastructure. Galata Wind is committed to acting in accordance with the following principles to realize the healthiest waste management models:
- Responsibly sorting, disposing or sending the generated waste to recycling institutions in accordance with national and international standards
- Designing processes in accordance with the Environmental Management System
- Implement auditable segregation methods in each activity area for the management and recovery of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- Reduction of hazardous waste through reduction at source and recovery
- Creating solutions for the utilization of non-hazardous waste with high added value.
- Making waste management and recycling an important driver for Galata Wind and the entire ecosystem
